If...

... I'd not been late, if rain had not been bucketing from the skies, if the bus had not pulled away as I reached the bus-stop, I'd not have been standing forlornly in the empty street when arrows of unexpected sunshine pierced my umbrella, making me look up ...

How often do you see two?

If everything had gone right...

I've seen them fairly often here, rain over the eastern mountains, sun cutting under from the west. Still, not common in any sense of the word.

the double rainbow
miracle you would have missed
if you'd got the bus

Much more rare here, I think, Zhoen, in our changeable but usually muted climate - I only remember seeing the second rainbow so clearly once or twice before, though I understand it is always potentially there...

Tall Girl, I love getting Haiku comments!!

Beautiful indeed, and a fine illustration of the delight of serendipity.

Apparently we can trap rainbows nowadays. But can we find even one pot of gold thereby? (Actually don't answer that :->)

I love rainbows.

We see double quite often here ... one the refection of the other ...... we saw the ghost of a third some time back
and ... no ... we hadn't been drinking ... honest!

Message: always have a camera about your person. Nice pic, Jean. I wish I'd had my camera/'phone to hand when I saw a double rainbow from the filling station yesterday. Maybe, like basking sharks & scorpions, they're on the increase here.

Found you via Lucy.
Not common, but always memorable those double arches.
For me the the double rainbow I remember was on the island of Sky. Glancing up from my breakfst and through the window they lit the heavens.

Great shot, Jean! A fine recompense for the annoyances.
